Happy HAPPY BIRTHDAY Coach Luis! 80 times around the sun! Your book tugged at my heartstrings. Love reading more about your life and baseball. Especially your story about how you and Maria met. Reading that love story in the beginning chapters was like reliving hearing you tell us at the coachโs dinner at my first RSFC camp in 2015. Youโre amazing player, coach, person and friend. May you have many more trips around the sun and celebrations!

Hi Luis- My wife Gayle and I have had the good fortune to cross paths with you many times in our lives, and you are always so kind and a true gentlemen. One of the highlights of my sports career is to have had as a coach at Red Sox Fantasy Camp. I had the chance to read your book a few months ago, and I now have an even better understanding of you and your challenging journey. Best wishes for a happy Bday with many more to come. I will never forget driving from Chicago to Cincinnati on Oct 15, 1975 to watch you throw an unbelievable 163 pitch (not a typo) complete game to beat the Reds in Game 4 of the World Series. Compare your feat with Tampa's Blake Snell being removed, having thrown only 73 pitches, in game 6 of this year's Series after only giving up only 2 hits. After the game we drove the 6 hours back to Chicago from Cincinnati arriving in time for our 8 AM class at our university. Thank you for the memories and Happy 80th!

A native Clevelander, Iโll never forget the shot of excitement from your debut against the Yankees in 1964. Complete game - ten or eleven Ks. We all imitated your motion. And your photo smoking a cigar some post-game in the locker room! I have always admired you and am so glad they are celebrating you on your 80th. I only wish it couldโve been Cleveland instead of Boston, as you had a special place in the hearts of us who came of age in the โ60s. Iโve always admired you. Happy happy birthday to El Tiante - a man among men. Mitch Macknin (have lived in Chicago the last 45 years but still an Indians fan!).

Happy Birthday Luis, I enjoyed watching you Pitch. You are a great person I meet you fir the first time when you opened up your restaurant outside of Fenway I was taking my son (Brady) to a game and I said to him that is Luis Tiant we need to get lunch there, but as I was standing in line I realized you were there that day and we got up to front of line you were awesome to him you talked to him for about 5 -10 minutes even though he didnโt know you you were but I loved the game and enjoyed listening to you talk to him about the game and just taking time to listen to him talk to you and asking you questions he was like 8yo. But just wanted let you know he didnโt stop talking about it he still remembers that moment. Thank you for that HAPPY BIRTHDAY Luis. Canโt wait to see you when your name gets inducted into the HOF.

How did you and George first meet?
Did he greet you on the street?
Perhaps you waited on his table,
Or had a friend within his stable.
Or was it at a speakersโ forum
Which he led with such decorum?
Did you read his Baseball Notes,
Or Facebook blogs, with all those quotes?
Whatever way your lives did blend
This is a fact – you had a friend.
He loved us all with his great heart.
He raised friendship into an art.
He cared for everything, you see –
Well, maybe not the GOP.
This much is certain, among men,
We shall not see his like again.
So let us bid him fond adieu;
So long, George. We love you, too.
